The Welsh story
Llew — the bright one of the skilful hand — was denied a name, arms and a wife by his own mother Arianrhod, and Gwydion tricked her out of each in turn. His wife Blodeuwedd, made from flowers, conspired with a lover to kill him; struck by a spear he became an eagle and rotted in an oak until Gwydion found him by the flesh falling and sang him back into a man. He is light that survives its own betrayal.
